Veronica Falls - Veronica Falls [4/5]

By martchelo on lunedì, ottobre 10, 2011

The Veronica Falls are so new that you won't find them in Wikipedia! Unbelievable, this is a rarity. But even an oddity given that the path towards self-titled debut of Veronica Falls did not happen in the dark but was closely followed by the indie world. Sure, a little hype compared to other bands, but also discrete expectations. And the British band led by Roxanne Clifford does not betray all. This album is one of the best debuts of the year and is very good under many points of view.
Most important is the rhythm section, characterized by wonderful Pixies like guitars, able to provide a unique dynamic to the entire album underpinned by Hank Marvin-style lead guitar. The Veronica Falls play pop music, citing the sixties but also evoke shoegaze and dream-pop, especially in the singing of Roxanne Clifford. But it's the indie-rock solid foundation that supports the entire album. Veronica Falls has it all, this is a great debut, a recommended listening: Bad Feeling.
